Our goal at Yarra is to develop an age-friendly city, by fostering a welcoming and inclusive community where everyone can live well.

For people aged 50 or older, "living well" means feeling included, being active and able to connect with other people, and taking part in everyday life.

We're looking for people who understand the needs of residents aged 50 or older to join Yarra's Active Ageing Advisory Committee (AAAC).

The AAAC provides information, support and advice on the needs, interests and well-being of people aged 50 and older.

Some projects the AAAC has supported include Yarra's Men's Shed, advocating for affordable housing, advising on safe and accessible urban design, and advising on national aged care reforms. This group is also regularly consulted as part of Yarra's community engagement process.

There are 8 positions available to people in our community. In particular, we're looking for representation from:

  • People or diverse age groups
  • LGBTIQ+ people
  • Culturally, linguistically and religiously diverse people
  • People who work with older residents, for example in aged care or other community services.

To express your interest in joining Yarra's Active Ageing Advisory Group, please let us know a bit about you, and why you'd like to join, in this 4-minute online survey. Please do this by Sunday 29 November (midnight).
