Locals can enjoy the sights, sounds and flavours of Pasifika, South and Southeast Asian cultures at The Festival of Flavours and Beats on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 August, from 4pm to 10pm.
The new event is funded by the Multicultural NSW Stronger Together Local Council Major Festival Grant and will bring cultural food stalls, activities and live stage performances to Mawson Park.
"Campbelltown is a proud home to many cultures and it's wonderful to highlight Pasifika, South and Southeast Asian communities, which represent some of our most prominent cultures," said Mayor Darcy Lound.
"I sincerely thank the NSW Government for once again supporting us in bringing this wonderful celebration to life and I encourage everyone to join us for what is shaping up to be two exciting nights of cultural celebration in our city centre," Cr Lound said.
NSW Minister for Multiculturalism, Steve Kamper MP, said The Festival of Flavours and Beats would be a chance to celebrate cultural diversity in Campbelltown city centre.
"We are proud to support Campbelltown City Council to bring to life the Festival of Flavours and Beats, a wonderful celebration of the diversity that makes Campbelltown such a vibrant place to live," Mr Kamper said.
"It's a great opportunity to get together in the heart of the CBD to share in the food, music and stories of the many cultures that make up the local community," he said.
Fashion lovers can enjoy the Pacific Runway Fashion Show on Friday 7 August, which will unveil three brand-new collections of contemporary cultural fashion designed by Samoan designer and local resident, Priscilla Yarnelle.
Sports fans can enjoy Talanoa with the Tigers, a short MC-led cultural conversation with Wests Tigers players discussing their connection to Pasifika culture and identity.
Visitors can also take part in hands-on workshops across both nights, including a Bracelet and Necklace workshop hosted by the Australian Museum on Friday 7 August and a Traditional Japanese Toy and Origami Workshop on Saturday 8 August.
The Festival of Flavours and Beats will take place across two nights, including:
- Pasifika Nations (Friday 7 August)
- Southeast Asian Nations and South Asian Nations (Saturday 8 August)
Funding for this project has been provided by the NSW Government.
