A fourth teenager has been arrested today over an alleged armed affray at a train station in Sydney's west.
Just before 5pm on Friday 12 June 2020, a male, allegedly armed with a machete, threatened commuters at Rooty Hill Railway Station before he was confronted by four males, who were armed with knives and a hammer.
Officers from Police Transport Command were notified and commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, three boys – aged 16 and two aged 17, were arrested and charged over their alleged roles in the incident last month. They remain before the courts.
Following further inquiries and a public appeal, investigators arrested a fourth teenager, a 17-year-old boy, at a home in St Marys about 7.15am today (Friday 3 July 2020), before he was taken to Penrith Police Station.
Investigations into the incident are continuing and further arrests are expected.
It comes as Operation Invertice continues tonight and tomorrow (Saturday 4 July 2020), targeting robberies, weapons and assault offences across the public transport network.
The high-visibility operation – lead by the Police Transport Command with the assistance from the North West Metropolitan Region, the Youth Command, the Dog and Mounted Command, and the Aviation Support Branch – will be proactively patrolling railway stations across Sydney's west.
