Funding For Three Junior Researchers At KI SÖS

Three researchers at KI SÖS have been awarded funding in the first announcement of the KI SÖS Junior Faculty Start-up collaboration grant. The funded projects include development of a psychological self-care program, evaluation of a referral support system, and investigating the utility of intraoperative autotransfusion.

KI SÖS Junior Faculty strives to support junior researchers through various activities, and this year was the first time this Start-up collaboration grant was awarded, with support from the KI SÖS Department board. The grant was awarded to three applications that presented a high level of scientific quality, novelty and feasibility of interdisciplinary research, with clear synergies in a new, independent collaboration.

Ellinor Berglund , university nurse and postdoc in the research group Emergency care  has been awarded 150,000 SEK for the project "Evaluating the impact of a digital referral support system on patient flows across levels of care in a major urban region".

- I am very happy and grateful for this grant, says Ellinor Berglund. The digital referral support system is used on a large scale in Region Stockholm but has not yet been evaluated scientifically. This project gives the opportunity to do so, in an interdisciplinary collaboration of care sciences and the administration responsible for the support system. The grant is strengthening our research group and will enable recruitment of a doctoral student.

Andreas Älgå , surgeon and affiliated to SOSVASC research group has received 125,000 SEK for the project "Autotransfusion with limited resources".

Lisa Söderman , gynecologist and post doc in The Gynaecological research team has been granted 125,000 SEK for the project "Psychological self-care for young people with severe menstrual pain/endometriosis-related pain: a co-creation project".

- I look forward to collaborating with Martina Nord, psychologist and researcher at the Department of clinical neuroscience, who initiated the research project. Now we will advance the project further together, complementing each other's competences.

The steering group for Junior Faculty at KI SÖS is happy to see the broad scope of interesting and highly relevant research applications from junior researchers at our department, says Ellen Vercalsteren, head of KI SÖS Junior Faculty.
