An excited Kellee Branks of Mountain Creek is the winner of a new iPad— offered as in incentive to participants in the Sunshine Coast Council's Draft Heritage Plan 2021-2031 community engagement program.
Council received 583 responses to its Draft Heritage Plan survey, as well as a number of email submissions. All responses will be considered for the final Heritage Plan 2021-2031 to be considered by council in early 2021.
Council's Coordinator of Cultural Heritage Services Peter Connell said it was great to see so many people sharing their thoughts on the region's cultural heritage.
"We offered an attractive incentive package that encouraged people to interact with our social heritage – drive in movies, radio play performances," Mr Connell said.
"The ipad was chosen as the perfect way to stay in touch with the region's cultural heritage and to find places to visit these holidays.
"Council's app provides a great, easy way to find a range of virtual tours, exhibitions and resources on council's newly expanded heritage website."
Kellee Branks, who has lived on Sunshine Coast for 10 years, said she completed the survey because, as a rate payer, she liked to be involved in the community.
"I'm interested in cultural heritage for my children, for them to know about where they are from," Ms Branks said.
"I'm also really interested in Aboriginal sites, as I previously completed studies in this area. This is the best Christmas present ever."
