Highfields Sport and Recreation Park open for Easter activities

The Highfields Sport and Recreation Park is open for public recreation and visits, including the regular Saturday Parkrun, across the Easter long weekend following this afternoon's (April 1) closure of Queensland Health's temporary COVID-19 testing facility.

Toowoomba Region Mayor Paul Antonio said Council had re-opened the facility to the public in time for visits this weekend.

"Following the state government's lifting of the Greater Brisbane lockdown at noon today and the news more generally around the containment of the most recent outbreak, the temporary Highfields testing facility has been closed," Mayor Antonio said.

"Queensland Health will oversee a deep clean of the Highfields Sport and Recreation Park to ensure it is safe for public use from this afternoon (April 1).

"Regular park user groups will be notified about the re-opening.
