Hooning offences in Alice Springs

A vehicle that was doing burnouts in the Alice Springs CBD before allegedly t-boning another vehicle shortly after, has been seized by Northern Territory Police at the weekend.

At around 2am on Sunday, CCTV captured a vehicle performing doughnuts at the Todd Street and Stott Terrace intersection.

Shortly after, police were notified of a two vehicle crash involving the same vehicle on Todd Street, before it drove off from the scene.

Investigations by members of the Southern Traffic Operations Unit, Alcohol Policing Unit and general duties members resulted in the identification and locating of the vehicle abandoned on Espie Street.

Northern Territory Police seized the vehicle for hooning offences under the Traffic Act 1987, which will see the vehicle impounded for a period of 48 hours.

Inquiries to identify the driver of the vehicle at the time of the offending, continues.
