Huntly Structure Plan development seeks community involvement

Community consultation has opened for the development of a Huntly Structure Plan and residents are invited to complete a short survey and register for a local workshop, to be held from 6pm to 8.30pm on Thursday September 8 at Huntly Memorial Hall.

City of Greater Bendigo Manager Strategic Planning Anthony Petherbridge said the aim of the Huntly Structure Plan was to provide a coordinated strategic framework for the future expansion of the town over the next 30 years.

"Residents, landowners and businesses are encouraged to get involved to help guide the suburb's future growth and liveability with the development of the Huntly Structure Plan," Mr Petherbridge said.

"This is an opportunity to provide input during this critical developmental stage in the project on what gradual changes, improvements and infrastructure will be needed to support a growing community.

"With public engagement and consultation, this process will help to create an achievable plan that will guide Huntly's future.

"You are invited to register for a facilitated Huntly workshop from 6pm to 8.30pm on Thursday September 8 where participants will play an important role in creating a vision for Huntly and contribute to discussions on opportunities, issues and potential changes in the future for the town.

"Feedback from this workshop will help to guide the direction and development of the Huntly Structure Plan.

"There will also be an in-person drop in session from 4pm to 6pm on Wednesday September 28 at the Huntly Memorial Hall where the community can meet with City staff leading the project and contribute to the findings so far, including a draft vision and feedback from the workshop. No booking is required for this session."

A short survey about Huntly can be completed on the City's online engagement platform Let's Talk Greater Bendigo and hard copies of the survey are also available at Huntly Post Office (which can be completed and handed in at the Post Office for collection).

A Huntly Community Reference Group has been created following a call out in July for community participation. The reference group will operate for two years and meetings are planned to take place regularly. Twelve members from the community have joined the reference group and their names are available on Let's Talk.

Public consultation to guide the development of the Huntly Structure Plan closes on Friday, September 30. To complete the survey and register for the Huntly workshop on September 8, please visit https://letstalkgreaterbendigo.com.au/huntly-structure-plan
