Icon Cancer Centre Backs Men Facing Prostate Cancer

Icon Cancer Centre is helping lead the charge to raise awareness of prostate cancer by joining Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia's Walk for Him campaign for Men's Health Week, from June 15 to 21.

The campaign calls on Australians to walk 25km throughout Men's Health Week, or any distance they choose, to raise funds for prostate cancer research, awareness and support services.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia, with nearly 29,000 Australian men expected to be diagnosed in 2026.

Icon Cancer Centre has come on board as a Community Partner for this year's campaign, as they take a step forward towards PCFA's goal of zero deaths from prostate cancer.

Icon Cancer Centre Australia & New Zealand CEO Paul Fenton said he was proud to continue the strong partnership with PCFA.

"I'll be walking 25 kilometres throughout Men's Health Week, proudly leading our Icon fundraising team and encouraging staff and partners across our network to get involved and show their support," Mr Fenton said.

"Receiving a prostate cancer diagnosis, at any age, can trigger fear and uncertainty. Patients often feel overwhelmed when navigating treatment options and may struggle with both physical and emotional side effects.

"By partnering with organisations like PCFA who provide expert, patient-centred support, we can deliver more effective care to help men navigate their treatment with confidence.

"We're proud to have PCFA Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurses embedded in 18 Icon Cancer Centre locations across Australia, working alongside our teams to provide expert guidance, continuity of care and leading support."

Locals are encouraged to get behind Icon Cancer Centre and join the Walk for Him movement to help save lives.

Participants can walk 25km, or a distance of their choice, in solidarity with men and families impacted by prostate cancer.

PCFA CEO Anne Savage commended the Icon Cancer Centre team for stepping up again this year.

"Community action is key to cancer control, helping us raise awareness of Australia's most commonly diagnosed cancer and encourage men to understand their risk," Ms Savage said.

"Prostate cancer takes a significant toll not just on men, but also on their partners, families and communities.

"All funds raised through Walk for Him will help support men and their families impacted by prostate cancer, including through research, clinical trials, specialist nursing, counselling, peer support and our nationwide telenursing service.

"With one in five Australian men likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, local action has never been so important."

Ms Savage said walking was a simple way for Australians to show their support during Men's Health Week.

"Every step helps raise awareness, fund support services and show men and their families that they are not alone," she said.

"Walk for Him is for everyone. Whether you walk with your workplace, your family, your friends or your local community, you can make a difference."
