Zero Project Award Winner 2020-21

The Zero Project was created by the Essl Foundation to support the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities by presenting annual awards to share Innovative Practice and Policies. Since it commenced, it has developed a 5,000 strong, world-wide cross-sectoral network of innovators, decision-makers and opinion leaders with and without disabilities, in over 150 countries. This years' awards focused on employment and ICT with 66 employment awardees and 16 ICT awardees from 47 countries from a total of 475 nominations. The Australian Network on Disability is proud announce that the Stepping into Internship Program has won a 2020-21 Zero Project Award which will be showcased at the Zero Conference at the UN in Vienna in February 2021.

"Having Stepping Into recognised as a global innovative practice for increasing employment of graduates with disability demonstrates that an employer-led program works. We're so proud of the Program and we encourage other countries to connect with us so we can share information and more organisations around the globe can benefit." - Isabel Heiner, Programs Manager.

Sincere thanks to our members, university students, our university partners and enthusiastic supervisors who continue to make the program a great success and launch careers.
