Karijini crash investigation

Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are seeking information regarding a crash that occurred in Karijini on Tuesday, 10 October 2023.

About 3.30pm, a Kenworth prime mover towing two trailers and a second, yet to be identified vehicle collided with each other on Great Northern Highway, near Munjina Gorge. A fire started as a result of the crash, incinerating both vehicles.

At this time all occupants of the vehicles are believed to be deceased.

Based on initial information provided to police at the time of the crash, it is believed there may have been one person in the truck and two people in the car at the time of the crash. However, due to the nature of the fire, and ongoing hazardous material risk, police have not been able to approach the vehicles to confirm this.
