Kayak located at Whites Beach in Torquay

Police are searching for the owner of a kayak that was located at Whites Beach in Torquay this morning.

Officers were notified of the unmanned kayak about 7am which was found washed up on the beach.

The blue two-person kayak was located by staff from the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority.

A patrol of the beach did not locate any other items.

Police are investigating whether the discovery is linked to an earlier incident which saw two males treated by Ambulance in Torquay, about 8pm last night, after capsizing from what was described as a canoe.

Police are wanting to confirm if the kayak belongs to these two males, believed to be in their early twenties.

Anyone who saw the kayak recently or who has information about the owner is urged to contact Torquay Police Station on 5264 3400.
