Kimberley fraud arrest

Major Fraud Squad detectives have charged a woman as a result of their investigation into fraud allegations by a staff member at a Kimberley Electoral Office.

It is alleged the woman altered an invoice relating to the cost of airfares and accommodation for a trip, and later submitted it for reimbursement to the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

It is also alleged the woman altered an invoice relating to the purchase of computer equipment.

It is further alleged the woman stole five artworks which were being displayed in the electoral office.

The 34-year-old woman from Derby has been charged with:-

• Two counts of With Intent to Defraud Forges a Record;

• One count of Attempt Gains Benefit by Fraud; and

• One count of Stealing.

She is due to appear before the Broome Magistrates Court on 12 August 2019.
