Labor Silent On Cuts To Tasmania

Tasmanian Government

Josh Willie reckons Labor is back – but they're certainly not backing Tasmania.

State Labor needs to get on board Team Tasmania instead of siding with their Canberra mates.

The critical list of issues on which State Labor has remained silent continues to grow.

There's been no outrage by State Labor at Federal Labor's decision to cut their side of partnership funding for vital palliative care services for the terminally ill, while Tasmania's investment remains on the table.

Just silence.

There's been no protest by State Labor at the hundreds of stranded patients in our hospitals, costing millions extra a year that could be going towards hospital and health services in Tasmania. Silence.

Labor failed to stand up to Canberra when it came to freezing Federal red tape and extra costs on housing caused by changes to the National Construction Code. Silence.

The Labor Leader was given four chances to back our Government's efforts to secure halving of the fuel excise, and he chose Canberra four times.

Yet the Labor Leader is somehow able to call for the TT-Line fuel surcharge to be removed.

The Winter-Willie opposition has not once stood up for Tasmanian small businesses facing extra taxes from the Federal Budget – their silence is no doubt because State Labor supported the Greens push for higher taxes in the Parliament.

And lastly, there's been deathly silence on the Canberra Labor-Green deal that puts our forest industry on the chopping block in Tasmania, at the expense of regional forestry jobs.
