Labor's Geelong Fast Rail Project Derails Prematurely

Liberal Party Victoria

Five years and two elections after the Labor Government first promised to deliver 'faster rail' to Geelong, the federal Labor government has today derailed yet another empty promise to the people of Geelong.

Following broken promises of an Armstrong Creek swimming pool and Ambulance station and the Geelong Women's and Children's hospital, residents of Geelong can now add this government's commitment to fast rail to the growing list of broken promises.

Shadow Minister for Public Transport, Matthew Guy, said: "Geelong, which was betrayed by the cancellation of the Commonwealth Games, has become the victim of more Labor broken promises.

"Labor's promise to deliver fast rail to Geelong won't happen and our second largest city will have to continue to endure an unsatisfactory rail service.

"Premier Jacinta Allan told Parliament that Geelong fast rail was a priority that Geelong residents had voted for. Today's news show that Labor's promises are worth nothing and she simply can't manage major projects."
