Land Unlocked to Boost WA Housing Supply

  • Four sites identified under the Housing Diversity Pipeline to support industry to deliver more housing opportunities
  • Sites expected to deliver over 200 new residential lots across established suburbs
  • Part of the Cook Labor Government's focus on unlocking land to deliver new housing

The Cook Labor Government's Housing Diversity Pipeline (HDP) is unlocking four development sites in Huntingdale, Henley Brook, Orelia and Alexander Heights to support industry to deliver more than 200 residential lots to the market.

The four sites are expected to create:

  • 59 residential lots, alongside public open space in Huntingdale;
  • a singlestage development with 19 residential lots in Henley Brook;
  • 115 lots for single dwellings, including a mix of lot sizes and densities in Orelia; and
  • 11 residential lots in Alexander Heights.

Development across all four sites is expected to commence in 2027.

The HDP program is focused on bringing underutilised government land to market for housing, working with industry to accelerate delivery and increase housing diversity in locations close to existing services and infrastructure.

The Labor Government is investing a record $10.8 billion in housing measures since 2021, including substantial investments to unlock land for infill and greenfields development.

Comments attributed to Planning and Lands Minister John Carey:

"We are continuing to identify opportunities to deliver more housing and rental supply, including by unlocking underutilised government land.

"In partnership with industry, these four sites will add more housing in established suburbs, close to services and existing infrastructure.

"Our government is also unlocking new land by funding water and power connections through the Housing Enabling Infrastructure Fund and supporting industry to deliver infill by helping to cover headworks via the $120 million Infrastructure Development Fund."
