Maitland City Council has been allocated $2.8 million as part of Phase 2 of the Australian Government's Local Roads & Community Infrastructure Program to undertake five local priority projects confirmed to be delivered before the end of 2021.

The five projects include a wide range of additions to further develop Bolwarra Lookout. Both the car park and playground will receive redevelopments, new BBQ and seating areas will be installed, and there will be an upgrade to the toilets and access points including a connection from Paterson Road.

Fieldsend Oval, East Maitland will also be upgraded with improvements to the car park, storage facilities, landscaping area and site fencing.

There will also be a range of footpath developments including an upgraded shared path installed in Thornton, and new footpaths at Bolwarra Oval and Largs.

Council's Manager Engineering and Design, Kevin Stein says, 'these upcoming roads and community infrastructure projects, funded by the Australian Government, will be a great addition to the local community that will further engage and connect individuals to important and significant services.'

All projects will complete a design stage before construction begins later in the year.

Under Phase 1, Maitland City Council was allocated $872,757 to deliver an irrigation system at Bolwarra Sports Complex, and pathways at Chisholm Road and The Boulevarde, East Maitland and Steamer Street, Morpeth. Those works are to be completed by July 2021.

Keep an eye on Council's social media or website for updates on each project.
