Man charged after Organised Crime Squad seizes $14m drugs

Organised Crime Squad detectives have charged a man with drug supply and money laundering related offences after the discovery of approximately 12kg of heroin and 16kg of MDMA under Strike Force Lollback.

Strike Force Lollback was established by detectives attached to State Crime Command's Organised Crime Squad in February 2023 to investigate the supply of large commercial quantities of prohibited drugs and related money laundering offences.

Following extensive inquiries, about 12.15pm yesterday (Monday 29 May 2023), detectives – with assistance from the South West Metropolitan Regional Enforcement Squad – executed a search warrant at unit on John Street, Lidcombe, where they located 12kg of heroin, 16kg of MDMA and 500grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of approximately $14 million.

Police also located items relevant to the storage, packing and supply of prohibited drugs including a hydraulic press, three safes, money counters and mobile phones.

The items were seized to undergo further forensic examination.

About 5pm, an additional search warrant was executed at a home on Molise Street in Preston where detectives arrested a 33-year-old man.

During a search of the house, police seized mobile phones and approximately $60,000 in cash.

The man was taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug >= large commercial quantity and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Tuesday 30 May 2023).

Inquiries under Strike Force Lollback continue.
