Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 21-year-old man following a fatal collision near Orbost yesterday, Victoria Police say.
It is alleged a car was travelling west along the Princes Highway at Mount Raymond Regional Park when it veered onto the opposite side of the road about 2.20pm.
The car struck a motorbike travelling east near Tower Road.
A male rider, who is a current serving member of Victoria Police and was taking part in the Wall to Wall ride, died at the scene.
A Botanic Ridge man has been charged with one count of culpable driving and remanded in custody.
He will appear at Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on Monday 17 September.
