Campbelltown City detectives have charged a man with drug and firearm offences after he allegedly accidentally shot himself in a clandestine drug lab in Sydney's southwest earlier this month.
About 5.30pm on Wednesday 10 June 2026, emergency services were called to a home on Collaroy Road, Woodbine, after reports a man had been shot.
Officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command attended and found that a 38-year-old man had allegedly accidently shot himself in the leg with a shortened shotgun.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a critical condition.
While attending the incident, police have located a clandestine drug lab believed to be manufacturing methylamphetamine and cocaine.
Officers also located multiple firearm parts and equipment believed to have been used in the manufacturing of firearms.
Following the discovery, specialist police from the Drug and Firearms Squad's Chemical Operations Unit, the Technical Forensic Support Unit and Fire & Rescue NSW were called in to safely process the scene.
Several items were also seized from the property including a shortened shotgun, a compound bow, knuckle dusters, firearm parts, a gel blaster pistol and $1,400 cash.
Police have also seized 45kg of cannabis, 10g of cocaine and small amounts of other unknown substances which will also undergo forensic testing.
Following investigations, the 38-year-old man was charged today (Wednesday 17 June 2026) with:
- Use, supply, acquire, possess stolen firearm or part (four counts)
- Manufacture prohibited firearm without licence/permit (two counts)
- Manufacture drug and expose child less than small quantity (two counts)
- Possess unauthorised prohibited firearm
- Possess unauthorised pistol
- Supply prohibited drug more than or equal to commercial quantity
- Supply prohibited drug more than indictable & less than commercial quantity
- Organises/conducts drug premises expose child
- Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority
- Recklessly deal with proceeds of crime less than or equal to $5000
- Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit
- Manufacture prohibited weapon without a permit
- Possess unregistered firearm-not pistol/prohibited firearm
- Possess more than 3 unregistered firearms, 1 is prohibited/pistol
The man was refused bail to appear before Liverpool Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 18 June 2026).
