Man dies after struck by own car in St Albans Park

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner after a car struck a man in St Albans Park this morning, 23 June.

It is believed the man, who was delivering newspapers, was partially outside of his stationary car on Wilsons Road, at the intersection of Westmoreland Street, when it appears to have accelerated and struck the man before crashing into a fence about 4.20am.

There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

The 78-year-old Whittington man sustained life-threatening injuries and was conveyed to hospital where he later died.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be established and an investigation is ongoing.
