Man dies in multi-vehicle crash near Armidale

A man has died in a multi-vehicle crash near Armidale yesterday.

About 5pm (Monday 14 December 2020), emergency services were called to the New England Highway, about 20km north of Armidale, following reports of a three-vehicle crash.

Police have been told a Toyota Hilux utility travelling south collided with the trailer of a northbound truck, before colliding with a second truck.

The driver and sole occupant of the Toyota, a 19-year-old man, died at the scene.

The truck drivers, two men – aged 52 and 57 – were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries.

The older man was later transferred to Armidale Hospital for further treatment.

Officers from New England Police District established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
