Man dies in smoke-filled fire - Mid North Coast

The body of a man has been found inside a smoke-filled unit at Forster yesterday.

Just before 10am (Saturday 14 November 2020), emergency services were called to a unit on Little Street, Forster, after reports of a fire.

On arrival, officers from Manning/Great Lakes Police District noticed a large amount of smoke emanating from the front door and forced their way inside.

The body of the occupant, a 59-year-old man, was found inside. He was declared deceased.

A crime scene was established as detectives and NSW Fire Investigators work to determine the cause of the fire; however, initial inquiries indicate there are no suspicious circumstances.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
