The investigation commenced in January 2026 after the victim came forward and reported the matter to police. The allegations relate to offences allegedly committed in Perth in September 2025.
It will be alleged the accused contacted the victim through social media and online gaming platforms before flying from Melbourne to Perth to meet the victim and sexually assault her.
On Monday, 3 August 2026, with the assistance of the Victoria Police Sexual Crimes Investigation Team (SOCIT) and the Australian Border Force (ABF), investigators executed an arrest warrant and a search warrant in Melbourne. The accused was subsequently arrested and extradited to Western Australia.
The 31-year-old man from Point Cook has been charged with:
• One count of Indecently Recording a Child Aged 13 Years or Over and Under 16 Years.
• One count of Indecent Dealing with a Child Aged 13 Years or Over and Under 16 Years.
• Three counts of Sexual Penetration of a Child Aged 13 Years or Over and Under 16 Years.
He was extradited to Perth on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, and is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 5 August 2026.
