A man will face court today charged with drug and knife offences after a vehicle stop near Tamworth last month.
About 10am on Friday 4 June 2021, officers attached to Tamworth Highway Patrol stopped a white ute travelling north on Manilla Road, Oxley Vale, for a random roadside test.
The driver, a 39-year-old man, allegedly returned a positive result for cannabis.
After speaking with the driver, police searched the vehicle and allegedly located prescription medicine bottles, some of which contained cannabis.
Police also located a separate resealable bag allegedly containing 5.8g of cannabis and a blue backpack containing 43 throwing knives.
The man was arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station where he participated in a second oral fluid test, allegedly returning a positive reading for cannabis.
He was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for possess prohibited drug and possess knife in public place.
He is due to appear in Tamworth Local Court today (Monday 12 July 2021).
