Man to face court today on harassment, malicious damage charges at Broken Hill

A man will face court today on charges relating to multiple alleged malicious damage incidents in the state's Far West.

Between Monday 3 June 2019 and Friday 5 July 2019, it is alleged the 47-year-old man spray painted buildings around Broken Hill in an act of intimidation and harassment.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District commenced an investigation into the incidents, and on Friday 5 July 2019, it is alleged the man spray-painted a van parked on Wolfram Street at Broken Hill.

Police attended the address following reports and spoke to the man.

Police seized three cans of spray paint and a mobile phone, along with the Mercedes van.

About 12pm yesterday (Thursday 18 July 2019), the man was arrested and taken to Broken Hill Police Station where he was charged with 19 offences including:

  • Destroy or damage property (x2)
  • Stalk/ intimidate intend fear physical harm (x13)
  • Destroy or damage property (x2)
  • Use carriage service to menace/ harass/ offend (x2)

The man was bail refused to appear before Broken Hill Local Court today (Friday 19 July 2019).
