Missing bushwalkers found safe at Illawarra

Two bushwalkers have been found safe and well after they went missing in the Illawarra overnight.

About 2pm yesterday (Monday 14 June 2021), a 43-year-old man and his 15-year-old stepdaughter set off for a hike along the Clover Hill Track/Cascades area within Macquarie Pass.

The pair was reported missing when they failed to return home by 6pm as planned.

Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District were notified and commenced a search, with assistance from

Police Rescue, POLAIR, the Dog Unit, and State Emergency Service.

Following an extensive search of the area, it was suspended at 1.15am today (Tuesday 15 June 2021).

The search resumed at first light this morning, with Police Rescue locating the man and girl just after 8am, a short distance from their vehicle.

Neither were injured and did not require medical attention.
