Monographs on Advanced Manufacturing Published

Chinese Academy of Sciences

An English monograph Smart Machining Systems: Modelling, Monitoring and Informatics, written by Prof. ZHU Kunpeng from the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (HFIPS) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was recently published by Springer in January 2022.

The book is part of the Springer Series in Advanced Manufacturing, which includes advanced textbooks, research monographs, edited works and conference proceedings covering all major subjects in the field of advanced manufacturing.

Prof. ZHU introduced new intelligent machining and monitoring systems through cyber-physical fusion systems in this book, including milling mechanism, data processing, pattern recognition, advanced machine learning algorithms like deep neural networks, intelligent process modeling and the theoretical research and industrial application of Cyber-Physical Production System.

Another book, Laser-based Additive Manufacturing System Monitoring and Control: Theory and Applications, co-authored by Prof. ZHU and Prof. Jerry Ying Hsi Fuh from the National University of Singapore, will be published by Springer soon.

The Chinese version of this book has been included in the Additive Manufacturing Technology Series, published by the National Defense Industry Press in December 2021.

It discusses the basic theories and theories of laser additive manufacturing, focusing on the data-driven model of process modeling in additive manufacturing, process monitoring and intelligent control technology in order to realize intelligent monitoring of laser additive manufacturing process. As a result, the quality, reliability and productivity of manufactured parts will be improved.

Prof. ZHU is from the Advanced Manufacturing Center of HFIPS. The publications have proved their contribution in the field of precision manufacturing and automation and are also recognized by the academic community.
