Most COVID19 restrictions eased across Victoria

With almost 70 per cent of adults having received their third dose, Victoria will move into winter with most restrictions removed.

What's changing?

As of 11:59pm on Friday 22 April the following changes are in place:

  • Vaccination status no longer needs to be shown at any venue.
  • QR code check-in is no longer required.
  • COVID-19 marshals are no longer required.
  • Masks are no longer required in:
    • primary schools
    • early childhood centres
    • hospitality and retail venues
    • at events of any size
  • Household-like contacts are no longer required to isolate for 7 days. These are people who have spent more than 4 hours with a positive case. However, the contact must:
    • Always wear a mask indoors except in their home.
    • Avoid sensitive settings.
    • Take at least 5 Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) across the 7 days following contact with the positive case.
  • People are exempt from testing or quarantine for 12 weeks (changed from 8 weeks) if they have had COVID-19.

What stays the same?

COVID-19 positive people are still required to isolate for 7 days following a positive result.

What about vaccination?

It's still important to protect yourself, your family, and your community from COVID-19.
