Mourning Death Of Holy Father, Pope Francis

Mater

Mater, a Catholic ministry of Mercy Partners, joins the Australian Catholic community in mourning the passing of Pope Francis, a leader of deep compassion, faith and humility.

His passing during the Year of Jubilee is particularly poignant — a time traditionally marked by renewal, reconciliation and hope. Throughout his papacy, Pope Francis was a tireless advocate for the dignity of every person, with a strong commitment to caring for the sick, the vulnerable, and our common home.

His leadership in Catholic healthcare, social justice, and environmental stewardship through Laudato Si' has inspired millions around the world.

As we reflect on his extraordinary legacy, we pray for the Church, for all those who were touched by his Mission, and for the election of his successor.

Mater stands in solidarity with the Australian Catholic community during this time of mourning.

"Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen."(cf. Psalm 4:9)
