Multiple arrests for property crime in Alice Springs

Three people have been arrested and charged in relation to a number of property and motor vehicle offences in Alice Springs earlier this month.

It will be alleged a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old male unlawfully entered a home on East Side and stole two vehicles and the occupant's wallet in the early hours of Thursday 8 October.

The vehicles were observed driving recklessly in the Alice Springs CBD and it will be further alleged the youth used the victim's credit card to make a number of unlawful transactions.

The pair were yesterday located at a home in the Braitling area and taken to the Alice Springs Watch house where they were later charged with;

The 19-year-old man was charged with;

  • Unlawful Use of a motor vehicle
  • Drive in a manger dangerous - pursuit
  • Drive unlicensed

The 16-year-old was charged with

  • Unlawful use of a motor vehicle
  • Obtain benefit by deception
  • Drive unlicensed.

The 19-year-old will face additional charges in relation to a separate unlawful entry incident at a home in the Brailting area on Sunday.

It is alleged he along with two other males gained entry to the back yard of a property on Dixon Road and stole two bottles of alcohol before they were disturbed by the resident.

The group returned a short time later and tried to gain entry to the property again before leaving the area.

The 19 year old man will face additional charged of Trespass on Enclosed premises and Stealing.

A 16-year-old male has been charged with one count each of Trespass on Enclosed premises and Stealing. Both will appear before court at a later date.
