New jobs to boost Collie Licensing Hub

  • Eight new local jobs to expand services at the Collie Licensing Hub
  • Jobs initiative forms part of the Cook Government's ongoing commitment to the Collie community

The Cook Government is continuing to open up new job opportunities for Collie, today announcing eight new positions at the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety's Collie Licensing Hub.

The eight full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs will further streamline services to meet Western Australia's growing demand for occupational licences and workers in the building industries.

With responsibility for processing licence applications from across the State, the new staff will provide additional support for electricians, gas fitters, plumbers and a range of dangerous goods workers.

The new jobs initiative will support diverse career opportunities, with roles available for school leavers or new entrants to the workforce and senior-level positions.

Established in 2020, the Collie Licensing Hub forms part of the State Government's plan for the local region's future prosperity, with the eight new jobs bringing the total number of FTE positions at the hub to nineteen.

Premier Roger Cook visited the Collie Licensing Hub this week to meet with local workers.

As stated by Premier Roger Cook:

"My Government is committed to a strong and resilient local economy in Collie, to help the area thrive for decades to come.

"The new jobs at the Collie Licensing Hub deliver on our commitment to the local community, and we will continue to work hard to create even more jobs and grow local small businesses.

"Collie is already attracting a range of new industry investments thanks to the State Government's work over recent years to help diversify the local economy."

As stated by Commerce Minister Sue Ellery:

"The eight new positions at the Collie Licensing Hub will support industry to meet the demand for skilled workers not only in the regions but across the State.

"Continuing to build skilled workforces and retaining workers in regional WA is a priority for the Cook Government, and Collie is no exception.

"The Collie regions economic diversity makes it a great location for the occupational licensing hub, which will help build a sustainable local economy well into the future."

Comments attributed to Collie-Preston MLA Jodie Hanns:

"The Collie Licensing Centre has been a fantastic addition to our community, creating a whole range of local job opportunities - from entry-level roles to senior jobs.

"I'm proud to be part of a Government that has taken the opportunity to locate a key Government service in a regional community like Collie.

"The Cook Labor Government is continuing to deliver on our commitment to create local jobs and diversify Collie's economy."
