The Walk & Roll Loop was created in collaboration with Vanderbilt Student Government in 2007 and is part of the university's FutureVU planning process. The loop will provide a wide, comfortable loop on the edge of campus for students, faculty, staff and surrounding community to walk, bike, roll and experience the beauty of campus.
Two years ago, a portion of the eastbound lane and sidewalk of West End Avenue closed as Vanderbilt University worked to add three Residential Colleges to the West End Neighborhood. The university has reopened the vehicle lane and unveiled the newest segment of the FutureVU Walk & Roll Loop.
Did you know?
- The first segment of the Walk & Roll Loop opened in front of E. Bronson Ingram College and Warren & Moore colleges in fall 2020.
- The Walk & Roll Loop is part of the university's efforts to improve pedestrian safety and make campus more bicycle friendly. The goal is to achieve a Bicycle Friendly University Gold designation from League of American Bicyclists by 2025.

What's special about the re-imagined West End Neighborhood?
The re-imagination of the West End Neighborhood grew out of the FutureVU initiative with the goals of enhancing the neighborhood to give it a more park-like feel and creating a positive atmosphere.
- The project transformed asphalt roads and concrete alleyways in the neighborhood into green spaces and pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly pathways.
