Ahead of the City of Melbourne Council elections, the Property Council has released an election platform, Rebooting Melbourne, APlan for Jobs, Economic Growth and Revitalising the CBD .
In an election year unlike any other, the Property Council has urged candidates to consider a range of recommendations aimed at boosting economic activity, creating jobs and building and restoring confidence across the municipality.
"The unique and vibrant City of Melbourne has been hard hit by COVID-19. Whoever is elected Lord Mayor will need to work collaboratively with the State Government and industry to reinvigorate the CBD," said Ms Wall.
"Melbourne has long been a beacon of innovation, prosperity, and growth. A unified vision for the future of Melbourne's CBD must be shared among future leaders of the city's council."
The election platform identifies eight recommendations for an incoming City of Melbourne Council to boost economic activity, create jobs and build confidence across the City of Melbourne. These include:
A sensible approach to C270
Promote Melbourne's economic recovery
Reactivate and revive the Melbourne CBD
Real housing affordability
Consider planning incentives to promote development
Ensure Melbourne's precincts are the best precincts
Encourage investment in Victoria
Leadership, accountability and a shared vision
The plan complements the Property Council Stimulus Plan for Economic Recovery released in June and the Principles of Successful Precincts research report released in August.
