Police are responding to fatal crash in Poppingarra - east of Port Hedland

Major Crash officers are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Pippingarra (east of Port Hedland) in the early hours of Tuesday, 10 December 2019.

About 4.55am, a grey Holden Statesman sedan travelling west and a white DAF tipper truck travelling east along Great Northern Highway collided head-on approximately 15kms east of Port Hedland.

The 35-year-old male driver of the Holden Statesman received serious injuries in the crash and was conveyed by ambulance to the Hedland Health Campus before being airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital where he later died.

A 26-year-old male passenger from the Holden Statesman and the 63-year-old male truck driver received minor injuries and were treated at the Hedland Health Campus.

Major Crash investigators would like to speak to anyone who saw the crash, or either the grey Holden Statesman or white DAF tipper truck travelling in the area prior to the crash.
