Northern Territory Police have arrested a 17-year-old male who allegedly escaped from the Holtze Youth Detention Centre on Wednesday evening.
Just after 6:30pm on 9 September 2026, the youth allegedly escaped custody while on remand and fled into nearby bushland.
Strike Force Trident, Dog Operations Unit, Crime and general duties officers established a cordon and conducted extensive searches; however, the youth allegedly evaded police and travelled to Wadeye.
Detectives from the Fugitive Taskforce and Katherine Criminal Investigation Branch travelled to Wadeye on Thursday after receiving information regarding the youth's whereabouts.
At around 2:55pm, detectives, with assistance from Wadeye general duties officers, executed an arrest operation. The youth was arrested following a short foot pursuit and taken into custody without further incident.
A stolen white Toyota RAV4, which police allege may have been used to travel to Wadeye, was located in the community with extensive damage.
The youth is expected to be charged with escaping lawful custody.
Investigations into the stolen motor vehicle remain ongoing.
