Police arrest man after Belmore stabbing

A man has been arrested and another man is in a critical condition following a stabbing in Sydney's south west overnight.

About 1.10am (Friday 1 January 2021), emergency services were called to Lucerne Street, Belmore, following reports a man had been stabbed and was on the road.

Officers from Campsie Police Area Command arrived to find a 29-year-old man on the road with stab wounds to his stomach.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St George Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Crime scenes have been established which are continuing to be examined by specialist officers.

Following a search of the area, police located a man under a car in the same street.

The 29-year-old man was arrested and taken to Campsie Police Station where he is continuing to assist with inquiries.
