Police arrest man in Western Australia as part of drug investigation

A Bentleigh man has been arrested by detectives in Western Australia and will be extradited to Victoria as part of an ongoing drug investigation run by the Caulfield Divisional Response Unit.

Operation Dante is an investigation into the trafficking and manufacturing of methylamphetamine which has been running for more than 12 months.

The 28-year-old man faced Perth Magistrates' Court today after being charged with a number of offences, including:

• traffick a commercial quantity of methylamphetamine

• prohibited person possess a firearm

Extradition was granted and he was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Friday, 26 July.

Once he returns to Victoria he's be expected to face further charges for drugs, firearms and criminal proceeds offences.

As part of Operation Dante 14 people aged between 22 and 53 years old have been arrested and charged so far.

Police have also seized approximately 20kgs of methylamphetamine, approximately 3kgs of MDMA, in excess of 12 litres of 1,4 Butanediol, more than $100,000, explosives, 16 firearms, a red Ferrari California T coupe, a 2017 Mercedes Benz C63, Holden Commodore ute, BMW X5, four jet skis and three motorcycles.
