Police charge driver over fatal crash - Narellan

A man will face court next month charged over a fatal crash where human remains were located along a highway in Sydney's southwest.

About 1pm on Wednesday 12 October 2022, officers from Campbelltown Police Area Command conducted a search of the north bound lanes of the Hume Highway, Narellan, after receiving a report that a person had possibly been hit by a truck earlier in the week.

During the search human remains were located.

A crime scene was established that was examined by specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.

Significant traffic delays were subsequently experienced.

Following extensive inquiries, a 37-year-old man was today (Wednesday 14 December 2022) arrested at Albury Police Station.

It will be alleged the Wirlinga man was the driver of a prime mover that collided with a 30-year-old man on the roadway and failed to stop.

The man was charged with fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing death and drive manner dangerous.

He has been granted conditional bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday 17 January 2023.
