Police charge man over drug supply - Far South Coast

Police have charged a man over the alleged supply of illicit drugs on the state's Far South Coast.

In January 2021, officers attached to the South Coast Police District commenced an investigation into the supply of prohibited drugs in the Bega Valley.

Following inquiries, investigators executed a search warrant at an address in Berrambool, just north of Merimbula, about 3.30pm yesterday (Thursday 13 May 2021).

Police spoke to the occupant - a 47-year-old man - who was allegedly found in possession of methylamphetamine and cash.

During a search of the home, investigators allegedly located almost 22.5g of methylamphetamine, as well as cannabis, 'Magic Mushrooms' and prescription medication.

Officers also seized two prohibited weapons – a mace and a whip – as well as items believed to have been stolen. Items seized will undergo forensic examination.

The man was taken to Merimbula Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug commercial quantity, possess prohibited weapon and deal with proceeds of crime.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Bega Local Court on Tuesday 29 June 2021.

Further charges are expected to be laid.
