Police charge man over fatal crash

A truck driver has been arrested following a fatal crash at Melrose Park on Sunday night.

Just after 9pm on Sunday 5 February police and SA Ambulance were called to South Road after reports of a crash between truck and pedestrian.

Sadly, the pedestrian a man aged 64 from Melrose Park died at the scene.

Main South Road was closed for several hours.

Last night, Monday 6 February, Major Crash Officers arrested and charged the truck driver a 31-year-old man from Clearview with causing death by dangerous driving and aggravated driving without due care. He has been bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.

The man's death is the 16th life lost on South Australian roads this year compared to 4 at the same time last year.
