Raptor Squad detectives have charged a man over a public place shooting in Sydney's west earlier this year.
About 1.40am on Wednesday (26 October 2022), officers from Cumberland Police Area Command were called to a home on Bristol Street, Merrylands West, following reports of shots fired.
On arrival, police located a number of bullet holes in the front of the home.
Two occupants were inside the home at the time; however, no one was injured.
A crime scene was established and forensically examined.
Local police conducted initial inquiries, before the matter was referred to the State Crime Command's Raptor Squad under Strike Force Helio.
Following extensive inquiries, strike force investigators – with assistance from the Tactical Operation Unit – attended a home in South Penrith about 11.30am yesterday (Wednesday 21 December 2022).
When a man inside refused to leave the premises, officers commenced negotiations before a 30-year-old man was arrested without incident about 2.30pm.
He was taken to Penrith Police Station, before being conveyed to Nepean Hospital for treatment.
He has since been charged with:
- fire firearm at dwelling-house with disregard for safety
- in company robbery while armed with dangerous weapon
- take & drive conveyance without consent of owner
- drive conveyance taken w/o consent of owner
- two counts of drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
- police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously
- and a number of other unrelated offences.
The man was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today (Thursday 22 December 2022).
Investigations under Strike Force Helio are continuing.
