Police charge man over spitting incident at Bathurst

A man has been charged following an alleged spitting incident in the state's Central Tablelands earlier this week.

Police will allege that about 1.50pm on Tuesday (30 June 2020), a 43-year-old man spat on another man – not known to him – while on William Street at Bathurst.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District were notified and attended.

Following inquiries, the 43-year-old man was arrested after a short struggle with officers.

He was taken to Bathurst Police Station and charged with resist officer in execution of duty, behave in offensive manner in public place, assault officer in execution of duty, and breach of bail.

The man was granted conditional bail and will appear before Bathurst Local Court on Monday 10 August 2020.
