Police charge man with breaching self-quarantine

The WA Police Force has charged a 56-year-old man for breaching a self-quarantine direction.

The man arrived in WA on a flight from Queensland on Monday 9 August 2021. The man was granted entry into WA on compassionate grounds as a returning WA resident and was directed to self-quarantine at a residence in Yanchep.

Operation Tide Breach Investigation Team officers doing follow-up checks identified that the man was not at the registered location. It is alleged the man collected a car in Perth and drove around for three days prior to checking into a campsite at a caravan park in Guilderton.

It is further alleged the man lied in his G2G declaration and was not a WA returning resident.

The man's COVID test done on arrival at Perth airport was negative.

The 56-year-old man has been charged with:-

• Two counts of Fail to Comply with a Direction (Emergency Management Act)

He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, Saturday 14 August 2021.
