Police charge man with multiple firearm offences and seize cash at Queanbeyan

A man will appear in court today after being charged with multiple firearm offences.

About 8.45pm on Sunday (2 June 2019), a shot was fired into a rural residence in Carwoola, about 12 kilometres south-east of Queanbeyan.

Police were contacted, and officers spoke with the 35-year-old female occupant who was not injured.

Investigators recovered a projectile from the home during a search and then continued with their inquiries.

A crime scene warrant was later executed on an adjoining property on Captains Flat Road where five unregistered firearms, an unregistered Luger pistol, a home manufactured pistol, an imitation Glock and two silencers were seized.

The resident, a 32-year-old man, also had a number of registered firearms, ammunition and $50,000 in cash seized.

The man was arrested and conveyed to Queanbeyan Police Station where he was charged with possess prohibited firearm (x 2), possess prohibited weapons (x 2), possess unregistered firearm (x 5) and not ensure safe keeping (x 3).

The man was refused bail to appear at Queanbeyan Local Court this morning (Tuesday 4 June 2019).

Inquiries into the shooting incident and the discovery of the cash continue.
