Police charge three after officer injured in hotel fight - Coogee

Three people have been charged after a police officer was allegedly assaulted during a brawl at a hotel in Coogee overnight.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command were called to the hotel on Coogee Bay Road about 9pm (Saturday 24 August 2019), after staff had concerns about the behaviour of a number of patrons.

The constable suffered facial injuries when he intervened in a fight between the patrons. He was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment to a broken nose.

A 30-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were arrested at the scene and taken to Maroubra Police Station.

The Hillsdale man has been charged with affray, assault police, and possession of a prohibited drug (cocaine).

He's been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 25 August 2019).

The Clontarf woman has been charged with affray. She's also been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.

A 21-year-old man – who was also a patron at the hotel – was taken by NSW Ambulance paramedics to Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment to a shoulder injury before being released into police custody.

The man, who is from Margate in Queensland, was also charged with affray. He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.
