Police investigate fatal collision in Richmond

Police are investigating a fatal collision and are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian who was hit by a car in Richmond last week has now passed away.

Investigators have been told a black VW Tiguan wagon was reversing into a parallel car park on Bridge Road on Friday 12 June about 9.30am.

A male pedestrian aged in his 50s was crossing Bridge Rd from the opposite side and was struck by the reversing vehicle.

The pedestrian fell onto the roadway and sustained serious head injuries and was transported to hospital.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and assisted police with their enquiries.

The man passed away in hospital on Sunday.

Police are appealing for any drivers in the area that may have any dash cam footage of this incident, in particular the driver of a grey SUV wagon that was driving westbound on Bridge Rd at the time of the collision.

Anyone with information is urged to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppers.com.au
