Police lay charges after replica firearms, weapons and illicit drugs seized near Hornsby

Drug and Firearms Squad detectives have charged a man after seizing three replica firearms, prohibited weapons and illicit drugs during an FPO search in Sydney's Upper North Shore.

In November 2018, detectives from the State Crime Command's Drug and Firearms Squad established Strike Force Myosoti to investigate the movement of firearms between states and territories.

As part of ongoing investigations, strike force detectives, with assistance from North West Metropolitan Operations Support Group (OSG), conducted a Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO) search at a home at Mount Colah, just before 7am yesterday (Tuesday 9 February 2021).

During the search, officers located and seized three replica firearms, prohibited weapons, cannabis, anabolic steroids and cash.

All items seized will undergo further examination.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and taken to Hornsby Police Station, where he was charged with 10 offences including three counts of acquire pistol subject to firearms prohibition order, three counts of possess unauthorised pistol, use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order, two counts of possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit and use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order.

The man was refused bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court today (Wednesday 10 February 2021).

Investigations are continuing.
