Police search for missing elderly bushwalker at Toorloo Arm

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate missing bushwalker Geoffrey.

A search was sparked after a car was reported abandoned on the remote Corduroy Track in the Colquhoun Forest just after 6pm on Saturday, 17 December.

Investigations revealed the orange Subaru belonged to the 75-year-old Paynesville man.

Neighbours reported last seeing Geoffrey about three weeks ago, however it's not known what date he left to go on his hike.

Police believe Geoffrey may have travelled to the area to observe bats near the Den of Nargan cave system.

There are concerns for Geoffrey's welfare as he has several medical conditions that require regular medication.

A large search is being conducted by Search and Rescue Squad members, Air Wing, Dog Squad, local police, Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, Parks Victoria and volunteers from the State Emergency Service and Bush Search and Rescue.

Geoffrey is described as 180cm tall, with a medium build, blue eyes, a pale complexion and white hair and beard.

Anyone who thinks they have seen Geoffrey or has information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Bairnsdale Police Station on (03) 5150 2600.
