Police update: Armed robbery at St George

South West detectives have charged two men following the alleged violent armed robbery of a St George hotel last week.

Two employees, a 67-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman suffered non-life-threatening-injuries during the alleged incident last Thursday (May 20).

A car was found burnt out in a nearby laneway shortly afterwards.

A 28-year-old St George man was arrested on Wednesday morning (May 26) and taken to the Toowoomba Watchhouse.

He has been charged with three counts each of armed robbery in company using personal violence, deprivation of liberty and one count each of enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence, enter dwelling with intent at night in company and possession of a pipe.

A 30-year-old man from New South Wales was arrested at Meadowbrook on the weekend and taken to Southport Watchhouse. He was charged with four counts of stealing, three counts each of armed robbery in company using personal violence and deprivation of liberty.

He has also been charged with one count each of enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence, enter dwelling with intent at night in company, arson, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and bringing stolen goods into Queensland.

They have both been remanded in custody and are next due to appear before the Saint George Magistrates Court on July 13.
